Weddings

No two weddings hosted at Olwandle are alike; you have the freedom to dream, and create, your perfect wedding. Seaside weddings, enchanted forest nuptials or relaxed unions on the sprawling lawns, the Estate offers many scenic spaces for your ceremony and reception. For your special occasion the Estate is exclusively yours: choose the setting for the ceremony and reception, select your vendors and caterers and even decide what hour your celebration ends — there is no cut off time for the festivities. Please note that Olwandle is an outdoor venue and KwaZulu-Natal’s mild and tropical climate, and unpredictable summer rains, means ‘winter’ weddings are the preferred season for weddings.

What our bridal couples say

Olwandle_underline_3
“When my husband and I were looking for wedding venues we arrived at Olwandle after only having looked at two other venues. From the moment we were driving down a dirt road into the Estate we were both sold, saying to each other, ‘This is where we are getting married!’ With the most breathtaking views of the ocean, hidden forests and rambling lawns, Olwandle is truly something magical. Every aspect of our wedding was absolutely perfect and all our guests couldn't get over how amazing the venue is. If I could go back in time, I would get married at Olwandle every time!”

“My husband and I are both born and bred Lowvelders but are beachlovers at heart. We searched the entire country, including Mozambique, to host our dream beach wedding. The moment we went to Olwandle we were in awe and knew that nothing could top this beautiful venue. It ticked each of our boxes for the perfect wedding: the private beach and views are one-of-a-kind and we had our own ocean and piece of heaven. In addition, there was enough space for our families to sleep at the venue and the magnificent bridal cottage made it unforgettable. This venue is exquisite for a dream wedding; a blank canvas each couple can make their own with God’s exceptional creation as background.”

What people say about our events

“The first time I visited Olwandle was after I completed my teacher training; it was almost as if the place was begging to host a relaxed yoga retreat — a weekend journey where people could reconnect with nature, other like-minded individuals and themselves. The Estate proved to be a nurturing space over a weekend of yoga, workshops and delicious food, with so much space to relax and slow down. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to birdsong. We stayed with ten guests in Bay House, which lends itself perfectly to al fresco meals in the sunshine, big group workshops in the evenings and when the weather didn’t allow for beach or forest yoga, indoor yoga in one of the many lounges. We used the courtyard as a silent meditation zone and kept the sea-facing lounge as a social space, tea always on the go. The kitchen was a large enough for meal prep and storage and the ladies of the house were extremely helpful with both. The bedrooms are ideally suited to pairs of friends or couples sharing and are fairly spread out from each other for chill times. Our guests’ feedback highlighted some favourites: yoga in the forest, beach walks and swims, meals outdoors and a very special Sunday morning guided meditation walk through the Estate grounds.”
